About the centre
The building
The community centre is a village hall on Nayland Road, well used by Bures and nearby villages. It has a main hall with a stage, the smaller Garrard Room, and a committee room for private meetings. There are kitchens and accessible toilets, and step-free access to the main hall. It sits beside a recreation ground with football and cricket pitches, a tennis and basketball court, and children’s play areas.
What happens here
The hall is hired for a wide mix of community life: clubs and classes, meetings, parties, performances, talks and fundraisers. It is separate from the church building on High Street, though Bures Baptist Church sometimes uses it for larger gatherings — quiz nights and similar events are a familiar example.
Hire and bookings
The centre is run by a local committee and is available to hire. If you are arranging your own event rather than attending one listed on our calendar, please contact the booking secretary through the community centre’s website.
